Q: Is there an age limit for WWOOFers?
A: The minimum age to go Wwoofing is 18 years. There is no maximum age limit. The important criteria are that you are willing and able to lend a helping hand to your host.
Q：I want to become a member, what do I do?
A: Step 1: Fill out your member application
Step 2: You will then receive an email from us regarding your application and how to pay for your member fee that is good for 1 year. Proceed by remitting your member fee.
Step 3: Once we have received confirmation of your payment we will send you the host list. You can then contact the hosts on our own.
Q：How much is member fee?
A：WWOOF Taiwan charges a NET of NT$800 handling fee per person. (We only accept Taiwan Dollar)
Q: Do you accept cash or checks?
A: Sorry, we do not accept any form of bank drafts, money order, postal checks, or personal and bank checks. But we do accept Paypal.
Q: How quickly can I get the host list after I’ve paid my fee?
A: If you pay through Paypal, you will receive the host list immediately. But, if you use bank transfer, the processing time is 4-5 business days. Once we receive confirmation from the bank, you will immediately receive the list.
Q： I have a friend in Taiwan, can they send payments for me?
A：Yes, but don’t forget to let us know the person who made the transfer, last 5 digits of account transferred from, date of transfer, amount transferred, full name as registered on WWOOF Taiwan.
Q: How do I pay my member fee?
A: You will receive bank and paypal instructions after we have received your membership application.
Q: I want to go for 3-6 months, but my Visa only allows me 30 days. What do I do?
A: WWOOF Taiwan is not responsible for any Visa or any documentation for members. Every country has different rules and regulations, we suggest you contact the Taiwan embassy or immigration offices in your country. We do not provide information regarding Taiwan visa or what type of visa is needed to WWOOF in Taiwan. If you are uncertain about VISA status, we suggest to hold off on your application to WWOOF until you are confirmed.
Q: I want to WWOOF in another country. Can I use my WWOOF Taiwan membership to WWOOF in another country?
A: No, WWOOF Taiwan membership fee is for WWOOFing in Taiwan only. If you are interested in WWOOFing in another country, please contact the WWOOF offices in that country. WWOOF Taiwan does not help facilitate or help contact regarding WWOOFing in another country.
Q: What do I get from being a member?
A: WWOOF Taiwan provides a list of WWOOF hosts that you can contact. This member fee is good for one year from the day you remit your member fee.
Q: My country has a wiring fee to transfer, what do I do?
A: Every country has different handling fees, we require a NET of NT$800 that must me remitted to WWOOF Taiwan. Any other fees must be done separately and on your own. If you wish to save wiring fee, please pay your member fee through PayPal.
Q: I want to WWOOF in Taiwan in a couple weeks! Can I become a member on time?
A: As soon as you sign up to become a member, paid your membership fee, you will immediately receive our WWOOF host list. Thereafter, you can contact WWOOF hosts on your own and start planning your trip.
Q: Do you offer online payment or paypal?
A: Yes, we offer Paypal but do not offer online payments.
Q: I am worried about the host living arrangements or cleaniness of the farm, what do I do?
A: Please check beforehand with the host you are interested in, many times, they are happy to explain to you their living arrangements. If available, ask them for pictures or online blogs about the farm. If you do not feel satifised, then please choose another farm host.
Q: I want to work on a fruit farm, which ones can I go to?
A: Each farm has different types of products. We suggest you look at our WWOOF host preview for information. If you want specific information regarding a farm host, we suggest you contact the WWOOF host on your own. Once you have officially become a WWOOF Taiwan member, you can contact them on your own!
Q: I’ve paid my membership fee and emailed WWOOF Taiwan my bank transfer information, can I get my WWOOF host list now?
A: Yes, depending on your bank there may be a 3-4 day delay in processing your membership fee to Taiwan. We ask members to be patient and wait for confirmation from us. If you have just paid your membership fee, don’t forget to email us the following:
1. Payment transfer date
2. Name of person who completed the payment transfer
3. The name of the bank from where you transferred from (if applicable)
4. The last 5 digits of the bank account you transferred from or Paypal Account name(if applicable)
5. The full name you used to apply for WWOOF TAIWAN membership
Once we have confirmed your payment, we will immediately send you our WWOOF host list.
Q: Do I have to have insurance to WWOOF?
A: Yes, we require all WWOOFers to have accidental insurance in Taiwan. You may be asked to provide your insurance information to your host upon arrival.
Q: My friend and I want to WWOOF together and pay our payment together, can I do that?
A: Yes, you can pay your member fee together. Don’t forget to email us your payment information and member names! If you want to WWOOF together, please check with the WWOOF host if they are able to accommodate more than 1 person at the same time.
Q: How is Taiwan weather and living accommodations?
A: Taiwan weather is generally pretty hot. During the winter time, it can also get pretty cold. Weather conditions in Taiwan may affect the WWOOF farm you would like to go to. We suggest you contact the WWOOF host on your own to make sure it is possible to WWOOF during certain times of the year. Each host has different type of housing, our host list states what type of housing they provide. If you have further concerns, please contact the WWOOF host you would like to go to.
Q: I’m already a member of WWOOF Taiwan. I paid my fee over 1 year ago, and want to WWOOF again, what do I do?
A: Your WWOOF membership fee is good for one year from the date your remit your fee or the dates you start WWOOFing. If you have paid your membership fee over 1 year ago, you may reapply for membership fee again. The payment and process is the same.
Q: I want to WWOOF in another country. Can you help us?
A: No. WWOOF Taiwan only provides host information for WWOOFing in Taiwan. If you are interested in WWOOFing in another country, please contact the WWOOF offices in that country. Q: I only want to work on farm no. X. Can you check availability for that farm for me before I become a member?
A: No. WWOOF Taiwan does not help contact farms for members. To protect our WWOOF hosts, we require all WWOOFers to become members, pay the membership fee, and contact the hosts on their own terms. WWOOF Taiwan is only a platform for volunteers who want to volunteer their services to find farms in Taiwan.
Q: I cannot type or speak Chinese, is that ok?
A: Many of our hosts can speak basic English. We suggest you contact hosts that can speak English to ease your WWOOF experience. Our WWOOF host list will provide information regarding languages spoken at home.
